We had the celebration service at a different location this Sunday - this was a double-edged sword.
It was great, because the facilities were awesome - a fully-equipped retreat center
It was not-so-great because when you are moving around, for some reason attendance takes a hit. At least in this part of the world it does. Permanency gives you a sense of grounding and that helps those people who just sort-of turn up on a Sunday morning.
Attendance was poor - see point above
Preached in English again - No translation into Spanish this week - Translator could not make the meeting.
Teaching in English, with a translation into Spanish will become the norm for us - we need to cater for some of our people who are Spanish-speakers, but essentially the young people (who we feel called specifically to reach) have Spanish as "grandma's language" (With all the stigma that carries)- bottom-line: we have Spanish-speaking (only) services, we lose the "cool factor", we don't reach the youth
Increasingly the youth are a major target audience for us. We have a long road to travel but essentially this segment of society is radical, has spare time to invest in Kingdom business, and has the energy that brings dynamism into church.
We had three visitors from the UK who are taking part in a missions week in Gibraltar – it was awesome! They confirmed that the message taught was prophetic and highly relevant to what they have been hearing for Gibraltar
Taught on Isaiah 60, how we are to arise and shine! Because His light has come and His glory has risen upon us, we get to do the awesome ministry of Isaiah 61.
There are specific steps that I need to take to plan our services better. More on this later.
We need to do outreach! MORE and MORE – even if it just to go to Casemates Square and hang-out with people
This location is freakin’ awesome….if we could use it every Sunday.
