So you want to take care of yourself?
For the past five years, yours truly has been seriously neglecting a vital part of my life: My health. With a growing family, a full-time job, a church to pastor and a degree to study towards, there was an accidental and unintended bumping-off of working-out and healthy eating. Believe me it has not been pretty - and I've got the bulge to prove it! (Together with 27.5% body-fat, high blood pressure and some cholesterol) So, I have made a mid-year resolution and I am starting to care for myself, seriously.
My work-out routine now looks something like this:
Monday: Weights - Chest & Shoulders
Cardio - Post-weights rowing machine
Wednesday: Weights - Legs & Abs
Cardio - Post-weights rowing machine
Friday: Weights - Back & Arms
Cardio - Post-weights rowing machine
I hope to be able to split my routine in order to do the cardio on alternate days (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays) but I need to tweak my calendar in order to free-up some time for this to become a reality.
I have also made some drastic changes to the way I eat. I am now pretty strict with my diet Monday through Saturday and I get a free day on Sunday in which to enjoy a moderate splurge on ice-cream and greasy food. I eat around five healthy meals a day, no sugar at all, and drink lots of water. My only indulgences are my coffee, and my glass of wine during the evening.
How about you? You want to take care of yourself?
